Brenda was from a very traditional Taiwanese family. Growing up they worshipped their ancestors and frequented Buddhist temples to complete religious rituals.
A couple years ago Brenda hit rock bottom struggling with depression. She began visiting temples to find what she was missing. The despair grew worse. One day she was walking down the street and saw a big red cross on a sign. Knowing it was a church, she went in to see if the Christian faith could offer her any hope. There were no services going on but a janitor pointed her to a prayer room. In the prayer room she picked up a piece of paper, wrote 3 words, “God help me,” and then pinned it to the prayer board. She had no idea who the Christian God is, but was so desperate for help. That prayer of her heart did not fall on deaf ears.
God answered that prayer a week later. A Taiwanese woman who was being discipled by an IMB missionary was learning how to share the gospel. She ran into Brenda and shared the good news with her. Brenda said that as she heard the Gospel, her heart leaped within her. It was the truth she had been searching for for years. She immediately embraced the Gospel and put all her faith in Jesus. She has been in discipleship since then and God is using her to influence others to follow Jesus.
